Why Organic?

Wild flowersCambrian organics is certified by the Soil Association, your guarantee of Organic authenticity. In addition members’ farms are also separately certified by one of the Organic Certification Bodies.

All aspects of Organic farming and processing are covered by the rules set out in the Organic Standards, and these are backed up by regular inspections from Organic Certification Bodies such as the Soil Association and Organic Farmers and Growers. Organic farming is a sustainable system of agriculture, it restricts the use of artificial pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and fertilisers.

GMOs and growth promoters are banned, and all of our Organic beef herds are BSE free. Health and welfare are of paramount importance. The welfare rules for Organic farming cover all aspects of livestock rearing, including housing, veterinary treatments, feeding, and transport.

Organic farming is about more than just producing high quality food. It’s about ensuring a sustainable future for our landscape as well. The countryside of Wales has a rich and varied wildlife, the spectacular red kite is just one well known example.

Organic childAs Organic farmers each of us has a conservation plan in place. That means any operation on the farm is planned with the environment and biodiversity in mind.

Our traditional farming methods minimise the use of artificial pesticides and fertilisers, and our sustainable Organic system of farming protects our landscape and wildlife. A number of us have joined environmental schemes to further enhance and improve biodiversity, ensuring a richer future for our children.
